ABOUT ME
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
As a teacher I must have a complete art program which allows every student to increase positive attitudes towards themselves, others and the environment through collaborative and creative experiences. Problem-solving and creative learning encourages students to connect visual knowledge to other subjects and to respond with innovation, understanding, flexibility and imagination.
I believe that an understanding of our world requires acceptance of different cultures, promotes exploration, and recognizes the diversity of visual culture and art history as essential in creating a balanced art program and society. Art offers the freedom to explore without judgment, without rules and allows students to develop the understanding that personal success is ultimately their own decision.
I strive to provide a foundation for my students that will help them as they mature as artist and individuals. Through their experiences as an artist, a critic, and reflective observer students will learn many lessons that will aid them in their development. I will have high expectations of myself and all my students to exceed the standards set forth by the state and federal government. Through experiences in my classroom and well executed lesson plans my students will come to know the importance of visual arts in today's society and how it contributes to every aspect of daily life.
